The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) is investigating the murder of a young man on Tuesday night in Dorval. It was a 911 call that alerted Montreal police shortly before 11 p.m. that a man was lying on the ground on Mimosa Avenue, near Carson Avenue.
When they arrived at the scene, police found a man in his 20s with at least one gunshot wound to the upper body, according to a spokeswoman for the SPVM.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, said SPVM officer Mariane Allaire Morin, who confirmed that no suspects had been arrested.
A security perimeter has been set up to protect the crime scene, pending investigators who will have to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this homicide. Major crime investigators and forensic identification technicians, assisted by the canine unit, were expected to visit the scene to better understand what happened.
This is the 35th homicide to occur on SPVM territory since the beginning of the year, marked by an outbreak of gun violence.
