A vehicle plunged into the Lachine Canal on Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m. at the corner of Saint-Patrick and Lapierre streets in the LaSalle borough in Montreal.
According to information that WIN was able to gather, the vehicle was traveling at high speed before plunging into the canal and being completely submerged.
The number of people in the vehicle is unknown at this time.
A nautical rescue operation is underway.
The Tactical Intervention Group (GTI) on SPVM is in operation on the canal and the Montreal Fire Department (SIM) is also on site to lend a hand.
It is suggested to avoid the area at this time. Traffic detours are enforced.
