The new Provigo le Marché Kirkland celebrates community and gastronomy

Provigo le Marché Kirkland has been developing an innovative and unique new approach to its flagship store since January of this year. The endeavor has been an investment of 5.6 million dollars and has created 110 new job positions.

Some new additions to the store and the creation of departments have made le Marché the one-stop-shop for all grocery and gastronomy needs. A brand new Starbucks has been installed within the store, and other recent additions include a microbrewery and an expansive prêt-à-manger department. These meals are the products of recipes developed by a skilled Provigo team and are created with local ingredients. Highlighted at the reopening was the loyalty to Québec produce, with an additional 140 local companies supplying over 2,500 new products.

The Store Manager, Jason Ouellet was eager to display the new changes within le Marché Provigo and celebrate the potential of the recent additions.

"It's my tenth year working for Provigo, I began my career here as a Chef at the Culinary Academy, and now I am the Store Manager. I am a foodie, and I believe we have set the bar very high regarding customer experience," Ouellet stated.

Additions to the charcuterie department, sure to be fan favorites, are the products of a local restaurant.

"We are now offering products from Île-Perrot's very own Smoke Meat Pete, which we are very proud to carry," Ouellet exclaimed.

In attendance was Suzanne Scarrow, the Executive Director of the West Island Mission. This organization has proven to be an asset in ensuring food security for members of the West Island as a local food bank that serves close to 1,000 residents bi-weekly. As a longstanding partner of Provigo Kirkland, the Mission was granted a $2,500 cheque.

"We can't serve the growing need or demand without partnerships like this, so it is a celebration to be in partnership with Provigo Kirkland," Scarrow re-iterated.

The Senior Director of Corporate Affairs, Communications, and Community Affairs for Provigo, Johanne Héroux, stated the importance of supporting the West Island Mission: "Provigo has a longstanding partnership with community organizations, specifically with the West Island Mission. Hopefully, our gift of 2,500 will help them continue to support and uplift members of our community."

The Mayor of Kirkland, Michel Gibson, was present at the event and represented Kirkland's support for this new project.

"We look forward to continuing our long and prosperous relationship with the new and improved Provigo Kirkland," stated Mayor Gibson.

In celebration of the new store, local vendors assembled to offer free samples and tasting stations were set up on-site. Gift bags were also offered to the first 2,000 customers.
