After two years of unseasonably warm winters, the historic Hudson-Oka Ice Bridge has officially reopened as of January 22! Philippe Daignault and his crew braved -20°C temperatures and put in 16-hour days to flood and strengthen the ice, making this century-old shortcut safe for cars, trucks, and vans once again.

🌨️ Why take the ice bridge?✔️ Saves you over an hour of driving compared to the highway✔️ Costs just $14—the same as the ferry✔️ A direct, scenic 10-minute drive across Lac des Deux-Montagnes

This historic route has connected communities for over 100 years—originally used by Mohawks from Kanesatake who traveled by horse and sleigh to work in Hudson’s Wilson Ice Factory. Today, it’s a key alternative to the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge for commuters, construction workers, and weekend skiers.

🌡️ The ice is constantly monitored, but keep in mind that conditions can change. If you're crossing, drive carefully and follow all posted guidelines.

📍 Now open daily—come take the shortcut across the lake!
