Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC – Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating the suspicious death of a teenage boy whose body was discovered Thursday morning in a park in the West Island.
According to police spokesperson Mariane Allaire-Morin, a 911 call was made around 8 a.m. after a passerby found the young man unconscious on the ground in Trottier Park, near the intersection of Trinity and Chauret streets in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.
Paramedics arrived on the scene, but no resuscitation efforts were attempted as the teenager was pronounced dead on-site. Authorities estimate that the victim was between 16 and 18 years old, but his identity has not yet been confirmed.
The young man had upper body injuries that may have been caused by a firearm, according to sources. However, police have not officially confirmed whether a weapon was involved.
Investigators were on the scene Thursday, going door-to-door in the area to gather information. The circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, and authorities are treating the case as a suspicious death for now.
“The circumstances surrounding this death are currently unknown, which is why the case is still considered a suspicious death,†said Allaire-Morin.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to determine if foul play was involved.
