Some West Island sugar shacks to try this season.

We have entered prime sugar shack season, and the West Island has its share of spots where you can enjoy a classic cabane à sucre meal or your favourite maple treats. This season is short-lived, so enjoy it while you can!

Instagram, Auberge des Gallant

WHAT? This authentic sugar shack is different from the rest because it is open year-round! It is located in Rigaud and will accommodate its visitors depending on the season. They say that at Sucrerie de la Montagne, "the maple syrup is produced the old-fashioned way; the tree is tapped with a spout, the sap collected in a pail and transported to a traditional wood-fired evaporator, where it is transformed into maple syrup."


WHEN? Here are their sugar shack hours that run until April 30th:

  • Monday through Sunday

  • 11 AM-2 PM and 5 PM-7 PM

Facebook, Sucrerie de la Montagne

WHAT? Located in Oka, this apple farm took its twist on the traditional sugar shack and opened its unique Apple Shack featuring gourmet meals with their famous Oka cheese. Chef Sylvan Mercier highlights the flavour of Quebec. Their Apple Shack is open year-round, and the menu is based on the season.


WHEN? The sugar season runs through March and April. Guests should reserve their dining room time slot here. You can visit their shop for a snack from Fridays through Sundays, 11 until 3. They are also offering take-out meal boxes.




WHAT? This beautiful auberge near Rigaud offers a warm place for all to enjoy maple-style meals and a cozy fire. Even though their maple production season is only until April 30th, their products are available all year long.


WHEN? Until April 30th, Thursday & Friday : 11AM to 3PM & 5PM, 6PM Saturday & Sunday: 10 AM to 3PM & 5PM, 6PM.

Sleigh rides on weekends from 11 AM to 3 PM if weather permits



Auberge des Gallant

WHAT? This sugar shack in Rigaud has been serving its guests for over 60 years with authentic, gourmet meals.


WHEN? Their dining room is open until April 9th, and you can book your time slot here.


Tourisme Vaudreuil-Soulanges

WHAT? Live a maple syrup experience at Ferme Quinn, where they will take the time to explain how maple syrup is made, from tapping a tree to boiling the sap in the sugar shack.

The experience will be completed with taffy on snow.


WHEN? Guided tours occur on Saturdays at 10 AM, 12 PM, and 2 PM throughout March.
