The City of Pierrefonds-Roxboro is thrilled to present the two public markets that are taking place this summer. Offering a wide range of locally grown and affordable products, in addition to reducing carbon footprints within the neighborhood, is also the perfect chance for residents to connect with local vendors and profit the most out of the close-knit community. This unparalleled grocery shopping experience adds a fresh, natural, and fun twist to stocking up the fridge and pantry!
Every Sunday from June 26 to September 18, 2022, the Château-Pierrefonds Public Market is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Château-Pierrefonds Park (at the corner of Avenue du Château-Pierrefonds) in the west sector of the borough.
Locally produced merchandises also include baked goods, meats, farm produce, oils, coffee, maple products, prepared food, and artisanal products, on top of fruits and vegetables that are all grown by producers within a 30-kilometer radius of the borough. More than a dozen vendors will be presenting their consciously produced goods.
“Both markets have a unique approach and products that we want to showcase. [We want] residents to discover what they have in their neighborhoods”, stated the City of Pierrefonds-Roxboro.
Shopping at public markets not only stimulates the local economy by favoring local supply chains, but also encourages merchants and expert producers to continue producing fresh and preserving their rural practices while offering products at a better price as products go straight from their farms to the shelves in the markets, making necessities more accessible to families of all socio-economical backgrounds.
More specifically, the À-Ma-Baie Solidarity Market that takes place on the other side of the city in the east, outside the chalet in the À-Ma-Baie park (9625 Gouin Boulevard West), operates according to the “pay what you can” formula. It provides less fortunate clients with the option to contribute what they can for their purchases, and when their budget allows, they pay the suggested amount.

Operated in partnership with Corbeille de pain/bread basket and Vert Cité, the À-Ma-Baie solidarity market holds the primary objective to improve the accessibility of fruits and vegetables to low-income families and residents in better economic standings. It is the result of community and citizen mobilization to improve access to fresh food for citizens. Residents with surplus harvest (even from their gardens!) are also welcome to contact Corbeille de pain through Facebook or on their website at https://www.corbeilledepain.com/ if they are interested in contributing.
The market is held every Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. from June 30 to October 13, 2022. Payments by Carte Proximité are accepted. Visit this link for more details!
