The Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal is pleased to announce the arrival of the VacciVAN, an initiative to further support the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, in partnership with the Jean Coutu Group.
The VacciVAN will expedite the deployment of vaccination sites and will help reach individuals in targeted sectors where vaccine coverage is lagging.
The van will be out and about on the streets of the West Island from July 31 until the end of the summer. In the coming weeks, and in an effort to make vaccination more accessible, those who have not yet received their first or second dose of the vaccine will be able to do so at various locations and without an appointment.
“Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, our objective has been to bring vaccination to the people. This collaboration with the Jean Coutu Group allows us to broaden our approach through increased proximity. We are always working to adapt our services to community realities,” said Ms. Lynne McVey, President and CEO of the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal.
“This initiative, which is fully in line with our desire to make a difference in the communities in which we are present, enhances our commitment to the collective immunization campaign by allowing us to reach vulnerable communities with an innovative approach. This is in addition to the vaccination services already offered in pharmacies by the pharmacist's owners affiliated with our banners,” noted Alain Champagne, President of the Jean Coutu Group.
