Montreal police announced that they have made eight arrests and seized 19 firearms in the past two weeks in three separate police investigations led by teams from the Organized Crime Division.
According to what the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) said in a press release on Thursday, an operation took place simultaneously in the borough of LaSalle and in Châteauguay, and two others in Beaconsfield, in the Ouest-de-l'Île, and in the borough of Montréal-Nord.
Four arrests and four searches were carried out on Wednesday in LaSalle and Châteauguay. Two of the suspects, Jeremiah Caterson Sampson and Kyle Chad Grabowsky, known by the aliases "Mayo" and "K-Irish" respectively, appeared at the Montreal courthouse to face charges of possession of firearms and other offences related to the possession of narcotics, indicated the SPVM.
Investigators from the South-West Multisectoral Firearms Team (EMAF) seized eight handguns, two high-capacity magazines, two additional magazines, ammunition, a bulletproof vest, cocaine, crack and marijuana.
On January 18, the Sud-Ouest Stupéfiants team arrested brothers Douglas Mac-Neil and Gordon Mac-Neil, both 57 years old. Investigators seized four handguns, two assault weapons, two high-capacity magazines, a machine gun, a rifle, 15 knives and four brass knuckles. Both suspects have appeared and have been charged with Possession of Firearms and Prohibited Weapons with Ammunition.
On January 12, the EMAF Nord-Est and the Narcotics Nord-Est team searched a dwelling located in the borough of Montreal-Nord, as part of an investigation "relating to images of an armed subject circulating on social networks," said the SPVM.
