The Canadian duo of Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier won the gold medal at the 2021 Fall Classic International figure skating competition on Saturday.
Gilles and Poirier, who won the bronze medal at the Worlds this year, had a total of 208.97 points.
The two Ontarians were eighth at the PyeongChang Olympics in 2018.
The Spaniards Olivia Smart and Adrian Diaz climbed to the second step of the podium (191.31) while the Americans Caroline Green and Michael Parsons completed the top-3 (188.43).
“We are very happy with the way both programs have gone,” said Poirier. "We didn't try to force things or have perfect skating. "
Quebecers Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha finished fourth with a score of 181.74. They won gold at the 2019 World Junior Championships.
Canadian couples Carolan Soucisse and Shane Firus as well as Haley Sales and Nikolas Wamsteeker took fifth and sixth places respectively.
In an all-Canadian event, Conrad Orzel won the gold medal after collecting 207.31 points. Bennet Toman (172.33) and Beres Clements (153.48) followed.
Orzel landed two quadruple jumps in the short program on Friday. The 21-year-old skater failed to perform them well in Saturday's free skate and fell while attempting his triple axel.
The competition ended on Saturday at the Pierrefonds Sportsplexe.
