Opération Nez rouge volunteers were in high demand during the third weekend of December, providing 134 safe rides home in the Suroît region on December 13 and 14. This included 62 rides on Friday evening and 72 on Saturday night.
Proceeds from these evening rides support Répit Le Zéphyr, an organization offering respite and babysitting services to families with dependents diagnosed with intellectual disabilities (ID) or autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Despite fewer evening rides scheduled compared to last year, Jessica Mathers, Répit Le Zéphyr’s Executive Director, aims to raise $40,000 through the 2024 campaign, slightly less than the $45,000 achieved in 2023.
### Volunteers Needed to Ensure Success
Opération Nez rouge is calling for more volunteers to help provide safe rides in various cities across the region. Volunteers are critical to the program's success, and their time helps make roads safer during the holiday season.
Cities in need of volunteers include:
- **Vaudreuil-Dorion**: (450) 424-4011
- **Salaberry-de-Valleyfield**: (450) 371-4848
- **Châteauguay**

- **Rigaud**
- **Hudson**
Volunteers are eligible for exciting prizes, such as a $300 VISA prepaid gift card or a trip for two to a sunny Club Med destination.
### Upcoming Pick-Up Dates
The next ride evenings are scheduled for December 19, 20, and 21. With the holidays fast approaching, Opération Nez rouge anticipates a growing demand for rides and encourages community members to get involved.
