Beaconsfield's Mia Vallée claimed an impressive 3 medals during the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. She won the one-meter springboard event at the Games, one of eight medals won by Canada in Birmingham on Friday. Vallée scored 291.85 points to take the top step of the podium. She beat out Australia's Brittany Mae O'Brien (279.60) and England's Amy Elisabeth Rollinson (272.00).

Vallée said the key to her success was ignoring the stiff competition and focusing on her performance: "I've learned over the past year to put the competition aside and dive for myself," she said. "It allows me to focus on myself and try to put on the best performance."
Vallée went on to claim a bronze medal with partner Margo Erlam in the women's synchronized 3m springboard event and a bronze medal in the individual 3-meter event.
In the individual 3-meter event, she scored 329.25, defeated only by Nur Dhabitah Binti Sabri of Malaysia, whose points totaled 330.90 and Maddison Keeney of Australia who scored 348.95. Vallée and Erlam's bronze medal-winning performance in the synchronized 3m springboard event scored a 297.00.

In the men's synchronized diving, Nathan Zsombor-Murray (left) of Montreal and Rylan Wiens (right) of Calgary won silver on tower with 413.85 points. They were edged out by England's Matthew Lee and Noah Oliver Williams (429.78). Australia's Domonic Paul William Bedggood and Cassiel Emmanuel Rousseau (412.56) finished third.

"I try not to look at the board too much, but I knew we were first after our fourth dive. Our reverse then dropped us a spot, and it was very close with the Australians, but we got there," noted Zsombor-Murray.
Canada is third in the medal standings with 26 gold, 32 silver and 34 bronze medals (92), behind England (176) and Australia (178).
