Les Amis de la montagne are offering a variety of guided hikes and snowshoeing excursions at Mount Royal Park during March Break. These activities provide a unique opportunity to observe winter birds and learn about their behaviors, diet, distribution, and habitat. Participants will have the chance to spot around 40 species, including the Black-capped Chickadee, Hairy Woodpecker, Northern Cardinal, American Goldfinch, Barred Owl, American Robin, and White-breasted Nuthatch.
### **Family-Friendly Birdwatching and Snowshoeing Activities:**
🦉 **Birds Are a Hoot!** (Ages 5+) – A fun and educational hike through the forest, stopping at bird feeders to observe and identify various species while learning how they adapt to winter.
🔍 **Discover the Birds of Mount Royal** (Ages 12+) – A great introduction to birdwatching, offering insights into different species in their natural habitat.
❄️ **A Snowy Mountain** (Ages 12+) – A snowshoeing excursion to explore Mount Royal’s winter wildlife and learn about the history of snowshoeing traditions.
💩 **A Story of Droppings!** (Ages 5+) – A guided snowshoeing adventure that uncovers the wildlife of Mount Royal through the tracks and droppings left behind in the snow.
🌆 **By the Glow of the City** (Ages 12+) – A magical evening hike that begins at dusk, offering breathtaking views of the city's lights while introducing participants to snowshoeing. The experience ends with a warm cup of hot chocolate.
