Man Hospitalized After Violent Altercation in Pointe-Claire; Police Rule Out Gunfire

A 47-year-old man is recovering in stable condition after being struck with a blunt object during an altercation that erupted late Tuesday in Pointe-Claire, a West Island neighborhood of Montreal.

Police responded to calls reporting sounds resembling gunfire near Parkdale and St-Louis Avenues around 8:50 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with serious, though non-life-threatening, upper-body injuries. Investigators believe the incident began as a dispute among multiple people that escalated into violence.

The individuals involved fled the scene prior to the police’s arrival, and authorities confirmed there was no evidence of gunshots despite initial reports to the contrary.
