The Legault government plans to make an important announcement this week. Quebec's "deconfinement" plan could be announced as early as this Tuesday at a press conference at 5 p.m., Prime Minister François Legault hinted at on Twitter on Sunday.
Ottawa unveiled its criteria for "life after vaccination" on Friday. If the threshold of 75% of Canadians vaccinated with two doses is
reached in the fall, indoor gatherings can resume, in addition to the large-scale return of students to CEGEP and university.
Provinces are being given some latitude as to how they will apply the forecasted relaxing of restrictions.
The Quebec Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, then indicated that a "deconfinement plan" would be presented by the government, "following the recommendations of our public health department".
As for this summer, Public Health has said it is in favor of authorizing several activities such as camping and picnics in parks or on terraces, provided that 75% of the population is vaccinated with at least one dose and 20% with the second dose.
At the beginning of the month, François Legault had indicated that he wanted to follow the Saskatchewan "deconfinement" plan. The province intends to combine vaccination targets with flexibilities. For example, there are plans to allow indoor gatherings of up to 10 people and the reopening of restaurants three weeks later.
