On Thursday, our Editor in Chief, Rhonda Massad, had the privilege to witness the Christmas launch at the Light A Dream boutique. Located at 63B Donegani in Pointe-Claire, Light A Dream is home to an impressive array of candles, planters, gift baskets, and other goodies that are "handmade with love" (SOURCE).

Light A Dream, which was established in 1999, aims to provide vocational training and opportunities to "young adults with intellectual disabilities and/or Autism".

"In recognition of the limited opportunities available to individuals with special needs, Light a Dream started a candle-making business with the intention of promoting students' understanding of various business and economic principles. Through Light a Dream boutique, students are provided with a safe and secure work environment where they can gain confidence and learn at their own pace. In addition, while working with us, they are enhancing their self-esteem, social, interpersonal decision-making, and leadership skills."

The generosity and support of those in the community are essential to the success and functionality of the Light A Dream Boutique. Through the combination of education and industry infrastructure, Light A Dream aims to provide students with the knowledge and insight to prepare them for confidence and success in the working field.

On Thursday, the team at the Light A Dream boutique launched their holiday collection, and it's safe to say they are not running low on their supply of Christmas spirit this year. From hand poured soy and beeswax candles, votives and candleholders, to hand painted gift bags, pots and planters, the Light A Dream boutique is sure to cross every item off your Christmas wishlist.

To support the students at Light A Dream, and teach them valuable skills and lessons to last them a lifetime, be sure to visit them in store, or head over to their online shop.
