Home Depot collects donations for West Island organization AMCAL

The Pointe-Claire Home Depot store is currently accepting donations to support a West Island non-profit organization, AMCAL Family Services. AMCAL is a non-profit community organization committed to promoting and preserving healthy family relationships for over 40 years. They are located in Pointe-Claire and serve families throughout the West Island Community.

The initiative is part of Home Depot Canada's Orange Door Project that is committed to supporting initiatives that prevent and end youth homelessness in Canada. The Foundation supports youth at-risk or facing homelessness by helping them realize their full potential and build a brighter future.

In 2017, AMCAL received a $12,000 donation from the Home Depot Foundation as a result of the Orange Door Project initiative.

The Executive Director of AMCAL Family Services, Sophie Dalbec, explains how this project will help to support their organization.

“The support received from the Home Depot Foundation makes a huge difference to AMCAL in that it helps support our administrative costs, such as the maintenance and improvement of our premises or the development and coordination of programs and services. This is something that most funders and donors refuse to do."

"All the monies have to go to direct services, but how can you offer direct services and develop new programs without planning and preparation? Though we strive to keep these costs as low as possible, the reality is that providing quality services requires proper coordination and quality management (human resources, utilities, space, etc.). Thanks to support received from the Orange Door Project at Home Depot Pointe-Claire, AMCAL is able to dedicate its efforts towards programming and services," she added.

Donations can be made from July 6th to August 1st in-store at the Home Depot Pointe-Claire or online, canadahelps.org
