Grant available for seniors in Pointe-Claire.

Financial support for seniors is being offered by Pointe-Claire. From now until September 29, anyone aged 65 or over residing in Pointe-Claire since May 1, 2023, who is a tenant or homeowner receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement (paid by the Government of Canada under the Old Age Security Act) is eligible. The amount of the grant will depend on the total number of requests received, with a maximum of $100 per address. The City will issue the grant in November.

Interested individuals must provide an application complete with the following documents:

  1. Grant application 2023 request form: This form must be completed and signed. The applicant should fill out section A, and if the applicant is a tenant, section B must be signed by the landlord.

  2. Copy of a monthly bill: Applicants need to provide a copy of a monthly bill issued in their name, such as an electricity, telephone, or cable bill. The bill should cover a period that includes May 1, 2023. If a monthly bill cannot be provided, applicants can submit a copy of their lease or lease renewal letter covering the same period.

  3. Proof of age: For first-time applicants, proof of age is required to confirm that they are 65 years or older on May 1, 2023. Acceptable documents for proof of age include a health insurance card, driver's license, birth certificate, or any other official document that states the applicant's age.

  4. Copy of 2022 T4A (OAS) statement: Applicants must include a copy of their 2022 T4A (OAS) statement, which confirms the receipt of the Guaranteed Income Supplement. This statement is issued by Employment and Social Development Canada.
