The Christmas tree vendors will be the first to return, starting November 20th, bringing the first hints of holiday magic to our public markets. It will be the perfect time to choose your tree and decorations, a few days before the opening of the eagerly anticipated Atwater and Jean-Talon Christmas markets!

The very popular markets attracted more than 50,000 visitors in 2020. These essential stops for safe Holiday shopping will be returning for their second and sixth editions, respectively. While supporting the local economy, shoppers will enjoy aromas of maple, chocolate, and mulled wine, as well as free family-friendly activities like the Bal de Lutins (Elves’ Ball), which will delight children and adults, all in an enchanting festive setting.

“This year, the Holidays will be all about reunions, and the public markets are working harder than ever to be welcoming places for all Montrealers. Alongside our regular vendors’ already diverse culinary offerings, the Christmas markets at Jean-Talon and Atwater markets will add some magic, with activities for families and new local products to discover. It’s an excellent way to support our businesses and celebrate all things local! We are pleased to be working with La Lutinerie once again, and to be part of the Circuit Féerique de Montréal,”
- Nicolas Fabien-Ouellet, executive director of Marchés publics de Montréal.

“The Holiday season is a time not only for getting together but also for supporting local producers and artisans. That is the central mission of all our events, and we are very pleased to be able to count on the highly effective participation of Montreal’s public markets as we work to fulfill it,” said Line Basbous, executive director of La Lutinerie, the organizer of the Christmas Villages at both Atwater and Jean-Talon markets.

THE GOURMET CHRISTMAS MARKET AT JEAN-TALON

The Christmas Market at Jean-Talon Market, open from November 27 to December 23, will be focused on delicious food. Based on the success of its first edition, the market will occupy twice as much space, with twice the number of vendors! There will be a multitude of local products (foie gras, cider, maple products) and gift ideas made by local artisans (jewelry, decorative items, wellness products…), as well as plenty of on-site snack options – raclette, tartiflette, churros, and mulled wine will all be available to fill you with Christmas cheer. More details will be announced soon.
