Guzzo cinema Dollard-des-Ormeaux had to be evacuated on Friday evening because several people there were inconvenienced by what appears to be cayenne pepper.
Several people made 911 calls around 8:15 p.m. to report that people had been contaminated by cayenne pepper in a cinema located at the corner of Brunswick and Sources boulevards, according to Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Police Department. of the City of Montreal (SPVM).
"911 deployed firefighters, police and paramedics. When the authorities arrived, the inconvenienced people were already evacuated outside the premises," she said.
A significant number of customers saw their evening ruined and had to evacuate the premises.
However, only "a few people" had symptoms related to cayenne pepper, says Ms. Dubuc.
None of them have serious injuries.
The Montreal Fire Department (SIM) is carrying out on-site verifications to understand what substance has been sprayed.
The SPVM does not currently know in what context the substance could have been sprayed and has not arrested any suspects.
"We are already taking investigative steps, such as talking to witnesses, and checking security cameras to locate suspects," concludes Ms. Dubuc.
