Catalonia Royal Bavaro Beach Resort all inclusive beach holiday

The Catalonia Royal Bavaro is a great choice for that sun-filled beach holiday you are searching for. It is a tropical paradise with many amenities. The adult-only all-inclusive is part of a larger property that includes a family resort adjacent to the adult-only resort. Adult only guests can use both properties; children are only permitted on the family side.

The Food

We were pleasantly surprised from the start that the food in the six onsite restaurants are delicious. They offer a sushi snack bar at the beach, a beachside restaurant for sandwiches during the day and complete meals at night, a Tapas restaurant, a pizza parlour, a vegan restaurant and another general style restaurant with a diverse menu. The only complaint is trying to figure out which restaurant is serving what on any given night. Many guests find themselves heading to each restaurant before making a final choice. A simple fix would be to post the daily menus on the door of the restaurant during the day.

The restaurants are closed between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., but room service is available 24 hours a day.

Bavaro Royal guests also have access to the family restaurants at the Catalonia Punta Cana right next door. It takes a couple of minutes to walk over to a slew of other choices as part of your all-inclusive package.

The Service

Second to none. The team at Catalonia is attentive and efficient. We were never told no to any of our requests. I wanted a specific kind of yogurt that was part of a meal plan I was following; Alexander paid particular attention to make sure it was available at my request.

The hotel is huge and spotless. Twice daily cleaning and stocking of the all-inclusive mini-fridge.

The Beach

Sea debris was removed from the beach every day. While not a wide beach, it was excellent for long-distance walking. Pelicans and seagulls are fun to watch dive for food. Bring some beach/water shoes as there is a natural path in the ocean that leads out 100 metres. It would be best if you had the shoes as the underwater terrain is rocky.

The shoreline is gradual, slightly wavy, making wading in the warm sea appealing. Water sports are available on the family side.

In the palm shelters located next to the beach, you can indulge yourself in a relaxing massage or request body treatments which will help you disconnect in an extraordinary environment.

The Pools

There are two pools — one Zero Entry closest to the beach and one near the reception that holds two jacuzzis. There are daily fitness and stretch classes available. The pools are very well maintained.

The Lounge Chairs

Like many resorts, the fight for the chairs is on early in the morning. I mean early. People are up before 6 a.m. laying beach towels on their preferred spot. By 9 a.m., there are few prime locations to choose left. Umbrellas are plentiful.

The Adapted Accommodations

The Zero Entry pool is large and welcoming. The entire hotel is wheelchair friendly. Guest rooms on the first floor are wheelchair accessible, as are all the restaurants. Six rooms are adapted with bath bars are available.

Wheelchairs and other adapted equipment are available at a cost. Both the adult-only side and the family side have one beach wheelchair for water use.

The beach has a designated beach platform designed to receive wheelchairs with an adapted walkway for easy access.

The Amenities

Your hotel stay gives you access to the family hotel Bavaro Resort. Its entertainment team organizes all types of activities for your day and nighttime entertainment. You can also play sports such as tennis, golf or paddle tennis and try out scuba diving or catamaran.
