The 16-year-old student who was injured during an altercation near St-Thomas Highschool this week has died from his injuries.
The John Rennie student was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon in critical condition after being stabbed. A second boy was brought to the hospital with stab wounds, though his condition was not critical.
3 total people have been arrested, all within the ages of 16 and 17, in relation to this incident. Two have been released on the condition to appear in court at a later date, the third was scheduled to have a hearing Thursday morning.
Seven charges have been laid in total at this time: two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault, one count of possession of a weapon, one count conspiracy to commit murder, and one count of conspiracy to commit assault.
John Rennie's Principal Jennifer Kurta states that student services have been deployed to aid teachers in delivering the news to students, and that psychological help will be made available for those struggling with the news.
This incident is the third violent incident resulting in the death of a student on the island of Montreal in the last several months.
