ABB Expands Electrical Products Manufacturing Facility in Pointe-Claire

ABB has officially opened its newly expanded electrification products manufacturing facility in Pointe-Claire, Quebec. With an investment of US$12 million, the company has nearly doubled the size of the facility, boosting production capacity to meet rising demand for electrical products across North America. This expansion will also add 40 full-time jobs to the region, enhancing local manufacturing capabilities.

The 65,000 square-foot facility incorporates advanced automation, including ABB collaborative robots (cobots), to streamline manufacturing processes. The facility will produce key products like Marrette® wire connectors, Carlon® electrical boxes, and other essential components used in various electrical solutions. ABB’s investment supports not only increased production but also sustainability, with measures such as solar thermal panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and smart energy management technology helping to reduce the facility's greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2025.

“This state-of-the-art facility is a key part of ABB’s global strategy to regionalize production and expand our manufacturing capabilities,” said Khalid Mandri, President of ABB Installation Products Division. “The digital and robotic technologies integrated here position us to meet growing demand efficiently and sustainably.”

This expansion is part of ABB’s broader global investment of over US$165 million since 2020, which aims to increase manufacturing capacity and drive innovation. ABB’s Pointe-Claire facility, located at 4025 Trans-Canada Highway, integrates robotics and digital technology, automating repetitive tasks to allow employees to focus on more complex operations.

With over 100 years of excellence in Canada, ABB continues to lead in electrification and automation, supporting the country’s economic growth while promoting sustainability in industrial production.
