As of December 31st, it was announced that over 130 million rapid tests had been purchased by the Government of Canada. Of those, 124 million had been directly shipped to provinces and territories.
Quebec received 21.6 million of the aforementioned tests.
In the weeks since the tests were received, it has become evident that with the surge of the Omicron variant, there were not enough tests to satisfy the ever-growing needs of the community.
It has since been announced that the Canadian government will deliver an additional 140 million rapid tests to provinces and territories throughout the remainder of the month of January.
It is worth noting that businesses and not-for-profits operating with 200 or more employees can apply here to receive free rapid tests from the Canadian government.
Smaller organizations operating with at least 50 employees are eligible to receive test kits through the provincial government by submitting a request to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services Sociaux (MSSS) at commandetestsrapides@msss.gouv.qc.ca.
