🚨 25 Canadians Charged in Massive Grandparents Scam 🚨
U.S. officials have charged 25 Canadians, mostly from the Montreal area, in connection with an elaborate phone scam that defrauded American seniors of $21 million. Operating from call centers in Pointe-Claire and Vaudreuil-Dorion, the suspects posed as distressed relatives and fake lawyers, pressuring victims to send urgent bail money.
Authorities uncovered the scheme following a multi-year investigation involving the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the RCMP, and U.S. Homeland Security. Those convicted could face up to 40 years in prison.
